LVSF Coordinators and staff are supporting tutors in their transition to online tutoring.
Those students who are able have continued to engage in their tutoring through various online platforms with their tutors.
Tutors and students also connect and continue to work on skills by other means such as telephone, email, FaceTime and texting. The Coordinators continue to update the tutors with online resources. The BL coordinator is working with the SFCADF instructor to be able to allow four inmates into a classroom at a time where they may practice social distancing and are able to participate in online interaction with a tutor via virtual meetings. The LVSF program will remain flexible in providing tutoring to both Basic Literacy and ESL students. LVSF is planning to make some adjustments to the enrollment process. Application forms can be made available online. Pre-testing will be conducted in one-on-one sessions until such time as online testing is available for our students. Tutor training and professional development will be conducted virtually, until such time as it is safe for trainings to be delivered in person. Online tutor training modules are already available through NMCL and ProLiteracy.
