We want to pay tribute to our dear friend and long time volunteer tutor, Herb Beenhouwer. Herb died peacefully at his home on October 28th. Herb began volunteering with Literacy Volunteers of Santa Fe in 2014. Herb tutored in the English as a second language program, serving many students from various countries. He generously shared his passion for learning and art with his students. In 2015, Living Treasures of Santa Fe recognized him for his “outstanding dedication to the life, heart, and spirit of our community, for following his ‘heart’s interest’, and for serving as an inspiration to us all. We are very appreciative to Herb’s service to our community and dedication to his students in our program. Herb will be dearly remembered and greatly missed.
